How did we meet… haha he stalked me! We started talking a long time before we ever actually met, he added me to MySpace thinking he knew me: from the same town/same age. It was nothing but taking the mick out of each other now and again. I moved away from MySpace and started with good ole Facebook and he tracked me down somehow! In September 2007 he was in the same pub I was, but drunk, he said hi and gave me a hug {how he was standing god knows let alone able to give me a hug without face planting the bar!} Anyway we finally met properly in October 2007 when I was out with some friends that he knew, he walked us back to my house and well the rest as they say is history and we have continued to take the mick out of each other since.

We had discussed getting married numerous times, I suppose you do when you have been together for a certain length of time but I was studying to be a Physio and he a Fitness Coach we thought financially we were better off waiting and Gareth always said he didn’t want a long engagement. Then one day we were at home he was acting a bit strange he asked for a hug and I could feel his heart pounding, he then got on one knee. How could I refuse.....

I didn’t really do much wedding dress shopping, I went with my now sister-in-law who was getting married the year before and tried a couple of dresses on but nothing stood out. A local bridal shop had a sale on so I looked through their pictures saw a couple I liked so booked an appointment typically it was the last dress I tried on, when I looked in the mirror it just seemed right it was just how I’d imagined my dress would be.

Both my wedding dress and the three bridesmaid’s dresses were from Karen and Lesley Bridal in Northop, who are just fabulous I didn’t need to go anywhere else. The boys suits were from Trevor Jones Wedding Hire in Ruthin. My perfect little blue socks (my something blue) were from ASOS. Jewellery (both brides and bridesmaids) handmade from eBay.

Our theme was based on laid back, vintage, love, handmade with a bit of our quirky relationship thrown in for good measure.

Mine and the girls hair was created by Big Day Hair at Reflections from Pontybodkin, Near Mold who came to the house.

Hayley from Elegance Bridal and Formal Occasion Make Up from Whitchurch did our make up, I can’t thank Hayley enough she has a natural talent and knows what every bride wants you couldn’t feel that you had make up on and I’m not a big make up person but I know for your big day and all the cameras you have to have professional make up.

Our fabulous flowers were created by Angharad from Maia’s Florist in Ruthin, I didn’t actually know what I wanted regards flowers I just told her the theme and colours and left everything else in Angharad’s creative hands, well we were not disappointed I couldn’t have dreamed for more beautiful flowers and have managed to dry my bouquet perfectly formed, a brilliant reminder of a perfect day.

The venues were the first thing we decided, St Mwrog and St Marys Church in Llanfwrog as it is Gareth’s family church and had our reception in White Water Country Hotel in Llangollen. We chose White Waters because it blew us both away, the location, the staff and the food was amazing. I went to a wedding fayre there not long after we got engaged pretty much because I was going into my 3

year at Uni and wanted to get the major stuff sorted before I went back, Gareth couldn’t go with me but I made sure we went a couple of weeks later and he felt the same as I did it had to be held there.

ur cars were provided by the fabulous people at Heavenly Wedding Cars, near Wrexham.

Our amazing quirky gluten free cake was designed and created by Arty Cakes based in Ruthin, North Wales.

As every couple we were on a budget, we didn’t set an amount just as cheap as we could do it, although we knew certain areas it was better to have quality and not let price rule our heads. I made a lot of the decorations myself such as the table decorations, bunting, wish tree, table plan, name cards, order of service to name a few things that I can remember to go with that handmade, vintage feel. Most of the wedding was bought from eBay including the bridesmaid’s hair slides. I even made my hairband with some left over lace ribbon and a piece of elastic.

Then, last but not least there was Sarah, well what can you say about Sarah the pictures do the talking. I hate cameras, I prefer to be behind them and not in front but Sarah made it easy. Sarah is my sister-in-law Ang’s best friend, you might have seen her and Al’s wedding photos in Cyprus this time last year. Ang showed me some of the previous wedding’s Sarah had done when they got engaged so when Gareth asked me I just knew who we had to have to do our photos I just had to persuade the hubbie to be, luckily we are on the same wave length and like the same things so it wasn’t that hard. Your photographs tell you your wedding day story, to be able to do that you need to have someone who is passionate about what they do. Sarah is 1000 times passionate about what she does you can just see it in her as soon as she picks up the camera, she even taught my son Alec some tips when we had our pre-shoot, not many people would do this. Sarah is not only your photographer for your big day, she becomes a friend someone you could trust whole heartily to capture your special day.

I don’t think we would change anything it was a perfect day. I would advise to take note of your dreams from your engagement to the wedding day, three days after we got engaged I had a dream that all three bridesmaids would be pregnant on my wedding day. First my best friend announced she was pregnant and was due a couple of weeks before the wedding day (Hannah arrived 13 days before the big day), my sister-in-law announced she was pregnant in the December and was 6 months pregnant on the day and my sister was 12 weeks pregnant on our wedding day.
